Central Asian Shepherd Dogs Posted by Frabo on 7/29/2007, 6:21 pm 209.47.31.5
I have been around dogs for over 10 years now. All kinds of Schutzhund and show dogs, have owned numerous herding dogs, bull breeds and terriers. I have to say nothing has been quite like owning a LGD. Until you have lived with one I don't think you can begin to understand what makes these dogs "tick". They are truly original in the dog world. Laid back most of the time, yet are quick to be up, ready to take on anything they might consider a threat. My experience with them is still minimal but they continue to intrigue me more every day. My male is just starting to come into his own lately and it is neat to watch his transformation into more of a guardian at home yet be totally at ease around the public. He takes his cue from me, if I am relaxed so is he. These dogs are very into their owners.
I have gotten a lot of positive feedback about his temperament from judges and other people who have the impression that these dogs are "hands" off, dangerous dogs. Nothing could be farther from the truth, a well socialized, well bred CAS is a true joy to bring out in public. I finally got to meet Coz and I have to say he is everything I hoped he would be and more. Outstanding temperament! I hope more people get to meet good reps of this breed as I believe you will be in for a nice surprise Tracey
